Old Father Thames
Our crossings of this great river during our Thames Walk

Crossing the Thames in a bubble!
One of the best ways of seeing the fully grown Thames is from the air in a Bubble Gondola. The views are immense particularly the O2 hedgehog and Excel with good views of Canary Wharf and to the Thames Barrier.
I thought you might be interested in the announcement of the change of ownership from Emirates to IFS.
London, UK, October 20, 2022 – IFS, the global cloud enterprise software company, today announced with TfL, the official start of sponsorship for London’s only cable car.
Now officially known as the IFS Cloud Cable Car, the newly rebranded cabins and terminals, renamed IFS Cloud Greenwich Peninsula and IFS Cloud Royal Docks, feature a new eye-catching design inside and out, ready to welcome customers onboard.
IFS will sponsor the IFS Cloud Cable Car for a minimum of two years, helping it to build on more than 14.8 million journeys to date and ensuring it remains one of the best London attractions.
The lady is feeding the gulls but also in the air can be seen the gondolas going back and foward continuously.
it is a great experience to be up so high over the Thames,
Using the Docklands Light Railway - DLR
This was an experience and no mistake particularly if you rarely visit the City of London.
-
The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) is a driverless train line connected to the London Tube.
The trains run along lines at a fair old lick and on crossing points etc are quite shuggly but everything works like a toytown magic railway - up on stilts and arriving at platforms some 50 feet above street level with many of the unmanned station names instantly forgettable and yet with a strong historical link .
Here is a photographic glimpse of our journeys to start our walk east of London.
Not many of our friends know this but Sheila went straight from College to work as a Legal Secretary. This was a blow to her because she always wanted to be a train driver. Why?
Sheila lived close to the famous "Wellington Bank" where on 9th May 1904 City of Truro achieved a speed of 102.3mph on the descent and the records state that the engine completed the journey mechanically sound and with cool bearings.
Mission accomplished because the drivers seat was vacant and Sheila was able to "drive" the automated train and all its passengers through Canary Wharf.
Here she is below checking that the engine is mechanically sound and her bearings were cool. Train 67.
The crazy world of staying at a Citizen M Hotel
I will let the pictures tell the story of our stay at the Tower Hill Hotel. An ecclectic mix of random objects of memorabilia to catch the eye. The bedrooms are to sleep in with a 15 square feet bed and a bathroom with mood music and lighting effects and loads of downstairs space in the communal areas to relax and stretch, eat and be merry.
Here is a photographic glimpse of our short stay in the Capital.
Citizen M have worked out Sheila!
just look at the shopping bags!
Citizen M have worked out Me!
Wrongly, i feel but I'll accept it because he is a much younger man.
In any event I do not have 8 arms and i have never knowingly worn different shoes. Socks perhaps.
Citizen M have placed this very fine gentleman in the basement lavatory.
His "judges wig" is made of old toilet rolls and the toilet paper suggests he has made the acquaintance of the Andrex Dog!
It is so lifelike i took a step back when i saw it because it is lit by spotlight.
Save the trees, I say, but it did make me chuckle.
Book an outside facing room for a world famous view.
